| Pronounced COVE - is situated on the southern shore of Great Island. It is 20 minutes by car (or train) from Cork City, and is 40 minutes from an Airport and Ferry Port. It is one of the worlds finest, natural harbours, and has always had a strong maritime tradition (the Lusitania and Titanic are associated with the town), and it remains a port of call for Trans-Atlantic liners, even today. The island has a population of approx. 15,000 and is renowned for it's grand Georgian and Victorian terraced properties, built in prosperous days when Cobh (then called Queenstown) was the Seat of the Admiralty. Today it has once again come into it's own, and prosperity is on the way, offering diverse cultural and outdoor tourist attractions and a lively lifestyle for residents. St. Colemans Cathedral, elevated above the town, is the No. 1 tourist attraction, then the Heritage centre, followed by the fully-operational Victorian Railway Station.
